Ingredients

1 pound ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for binding)

4 whole wheat burger buns

Lettuce leaves, for garnish

Tomato slices, for garnish

Avocado (optional), for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped spinach, white cheddar cheese, chopped red onion, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. If the mixture feels too wet, add breadcrumbs for binding.

Form the Patties: Mix all ingredients until well combined. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties about 1-inch thick.

Grill the Burgers: Lightly oil the grill grates. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and have nice grill marks.

Toast the Buns: During the last minute of cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Place the grilled chicken patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado if desired. Add the top bun.

Serve: Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite side dishes such as sweet potato fries or a green salad.
