Ingredients

1 lb (450g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons garam masala

1 tablespoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)

Salt to taste

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked basmati rice or naan bread (for serving)

Instructions

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

Add the chicken pieces to the skillet, seasoning with salt, chili powder, garam masala, and cumin. Cook the chicken until it is browned on the outside and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.

Pour in the tomato sauce, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and butter, mixing until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Simmer for another 5 minutes, adjusting seasoning if necessary.

Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving. Enjoy your butter chicken with fluffy basmati rice or warm naan bread.
