Key components like gochujang (Korean chili paste), sesame oil, and green onions define the essence of this cuisine. Gochujang, with its rich and complex flavor profile, adds depth and heat to dishes, while sesame oil infuses a nutty aroma that enhances the overall taste. Green onions bring freshness and a mild onion flavor, serving as a wonderful complement to the meat.

Instructions

Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, green onions, minced garlic, egg, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, ground ginger, black pepper, and gochujang. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Set them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake the Meatballs: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

Prepare the Spicy Mayo Dip: While the meatballs are baking, mix the mayonnaise, gochujang, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and honey (if using) in a small bowl. Stir until the ingredients are well combined. Adjust the spiciness by adding more gochujang if desired.

Garnish and Serve: Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions. Serve with the spicy mayo dip on the side for a delicious dipping experience.
