Ingredients

1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, freshly grated

1 medium onion, sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Broccoli: Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Quickly transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, sesame oil, and sugar. Set this sauce mixture aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large pan or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add a little more oil if necessary and toss in the garlic, ginger, and sliced onion. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine: Add the blanched broccoli and the reserved beef back into the pan. Pour the sauce mixture over everything and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until combined and heated through.

Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles for a complete meal.
