Cheesy Taco Sticks

Ingredients
  

1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets)

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 packet taco seasoning

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup chopped green onions

1/4 cup sour cream (for dipping)

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Optional toppings: salsa, jalapeños, or avocado slices

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once cooked, drain any excess fat.

      Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the meat and add a splash of water (about 2 tablespoons). Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the meat is evenly coated and the water has evaporated.

        Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface and cut each into rectangles, approximately 4 inches by 6 inches.

          In the center of each rectangle, place a spoonful of the seasoned meat mixture, followed by a sprinkle of both cheddar and mozzarella cheese, diced tomatoes, and green onions.

            Fold the pastry over the filling to create a pocket. Pinch the edges to seal, and then press with a fork to ensure they're well sealed.

              Brush the tops of each taco stick with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

                Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.

                  Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving with sour cream and your choice of optional toppings. Enjoy!
