Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup melted coconut oil (or vegetable oil)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Prepare wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, brown sugar, granulated sugar, melted coconut oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.

Mix dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until thoroughly mixed.

Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients. Stir just until combined; be careful not to overmix. If desired, fold in the walnuts or chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor.

Pour into pan: Transfer the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool & Cut: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then use the parchment paper to lift them out onto a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Serve and enjoy: Serve your Banana Bread Brownies warm, at room temperature, or chilled—pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert!
