Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)

2 teaspoons instant yeast

2 teaspoons sea salt

2 teaspoons sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Add the olive oil to the yeast mixture. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and sea salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. You can add a little more flour if it’s too sticky, but be careful not to add too much.

Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel; let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (between 475°F and 500°F) and place a pizza stone or a baking sheet inside to heat up.

After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to remove excess air. Divide it into 2 equal portions for large pizzas or into 4 portions for personal-sized pizzas.

Shape each dough portion into a ball and let them rest for another 15-20 minutes under a kitchen towel to relax the gluten.

On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll each ball of dough into a desired shape and thickness. Dust with cornmeal to prevent sticking.

Top with your favorite sauces, cheeses, and toppings, then transfer to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet.

Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Enjoy your delicious artisan pizza!
